In 1996, a group of passionate educators felt the need to bring a transformation in the education system to address changing societal needs. They envisioned a system where students get the opportunity to seek information, the latest technology, and skills and mainly a system that grooms students to explore their potential. This system is accessible to all no matter where they come from. As a result of years of brainstorming and creativity, the Sagar Academy of Education Trust was founded.

Sagar Academy of Education is a secular, apolitical and not-for-profit trust established in 2002, under the provisions of the India Trust Act. The trust started Hongirana School of Excellence, affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, in the year 2003 and Hongirana Independent P U College, recognized by the Govt. of Karnataka in the year 2006. These institutions aim to provide equitable access to education, technology and growth opportunities through experiential, child-centred learning environments and modern teaching methods to enable students to acquire 21st-century skills and be prepared for the future.

Over the last two decades, the trust has reached over 6000 rural students across 250 villages in Karnataka through these well-functioning institutions. This was possible primarily due to the consistent and committed efforts of the Trustees and all the staff working in these institutions under their guidance.
